In an exciting announcement that is sure to stir interest among gymnastics fans, Maryland's own senior athletes, Taylor Rech and Maddie Komoroski, have been recognized on the prestigious 2026 Big Ten "Gymnasts to Watch" list. This accolade, revealed by the conference on Tuesday, highlights the potential and talent these gymnasts bring to their teams.
Taylor Rech has established herself as a key player for the Terrapins, showcasing remarkable performance on the vault and floor exercise. Throughout her three-year tenure with the team, she has consistently delivered impressive results. At the Big Ten Championships held last March, she achieved scores of 9.850 on vault and 9.825 on floor, demonstrating her reliability under pressure. Notably, during the NCAA Regionals in April of the previous season, Rech achieved a personal best of 9.900 on the vault, which ranks as the third-highest score in Maryland’s history for an NCAA Regional event. Her achievements extend beyond athletics; she was also honored as a member of the 2025 Academic All-Big Ten team for her academic excellence.
On the other hand, Maddie Komoroski has made a significant impact as a competitor on both the beam and floor, participating in every season since joining the Terps. Last year, she delivered standout performances, including a score of 9.825 on the floor at the Big Ten Championships and a remarkable tie for sixth place on the beam with a score of 9.925. Her crowning achievement came at the NCAA Regionals where she scored an impressive 9.950 on the beam, earning her the title of 2025 NCAA Pennsylvania Regional Co-Champion. This score not only marked a career milestone for Komoroski but also set a new program record for the highest individual beam score at an NCAA Regional event. Beyond her athletic accomplishments, she has recently been acknowledged with the Big Ten Jackie Robinson Community & Service Award, reflecting her commitment to making a positive difference in her community.
