Raleigh's West Hargett Street to Undergo Temporary Closure for Water System Repairs
The City of Raleigh has announced a temporary closure of a block of West Hargett Street for essential water system repairs. The 200 block, situated between Nash Square and the Raleigh Municipal Building, will be closed from 8 p.m. on Thursday to 4 a.m. on Friday. This closure is part of a larger effort to ensure the reliability and safety of the city's water infrastructure.
To facilitate the repair work, a portion of the street is already partially closed, allowing for a smooth transition to the full closure on Thursday evening. The city assures residents that the work is temporary and that water service interruptions are not anticipated.
Motorists are advised to follow the posted signs and traffic detours in the area. Here's a breakdown of the detours:
- Northbound S. McDowell St.: Merge into the left lane at W. Cabarrus St. Traffic will resume normal flow after W. Hargett St.
- Eastbound W. Hargett St.: Turn right onto S. Dawson St., left onto W. Martin St., and left onto S. McDowell St.
- Westbound W. Martin St.: Turn left onto S. Salisbury St., right onto W. Davie St., and right onto S. McDowell St.
This closure is a proactive measure to maintain the integrity of the water system, ensuring that Raleigh's residents have access to a reliable water supply. The city encourages drivers to plan their routes accordingly and adhere to the temporary traffic adjustments.
